A Trip To Te-Poho-o-Rawiri

Hi, how are you?
On Thursday 12th to Friday 13th of September I went on a school trip with the nui syndicate of our school. We stayed the night at the Te-Poho-o-Rawiri Marae in Kaiti Gisborne. Once we got onto the ground of the Marae, we were nicely welcomed by the tangata whenua, Papa Albie, Aunty Buba and Aunty Charlotte. They brought us into the whare where we had a Powhiri and got told maori stories.

While we were their we did rotations where we played traditional maori games and walked up Kaiti hill. For dinner we had nachos, they were delicious! After dinner our parents came and watch a show that we put on for them. There was a Kapa Haka performance that all of Nui were in. And I did a jump jam performance with my jump jam team. There were other performances to, like ukulele and a comedy act done by Jack.
The next day the Wai syndicate came and we had another Powhiri to welcome them. After the Powhiri to welcome the wai syndercite they joined in our rotations. I learnt how to weave flax at one of the rotations. But after 2 or 3 hours it was time to go home. I had  great time at the Marae and learnt a lot. Overall I think it was an amazing experience.
